Why soy?

I choose soy wax for many good reasons. It's renewable, burns cleaner, and blends well with fragrances. Soy candles are better for the environment, non-toxic, and produce less soot than paraffin. Using soy wax supports U.S. farmers and helps the agricultural economy. Soy wax, derived from soybeans, is natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable. It releases fragrance longer than other waxes and lasts 25-50% longer than paraffin candles. It is water-soluble, making jar cleaning easy and supporting reuse. Soy candles produce up to 90% less soot than paraffin, keeping walls clean.

What Is Soy Wax?

Soybeans are processed by removing their husks and drying them into flakes, from which oil is extracted and hydrogenated. This hydrogenation changes the oil's chemical structure, resulting in a solid form at room temperature known as soy wax. The remaining husks are often repurposed as animal feed. Soy candles are crafted from soybeans, a sustainable and renewable resource cultivated by local farmers in various regions.

Are your fragrances phthalate free? What is a phthalate?

My Candles are completely free of phthalates. Although there are no rules prohibiting phthalate use in candles, I chose to avoid fragrances containing them. While the amounts of phthalates usually present in candles are not harmful to consumers or manufacturers, I believe that keeping things simple is the best approach

Are MiCasa Candles Vegan?

I'm excited to share that my candles and fragrances are proudly vegan! It's important to me that both I and my suppliers uphold ethical practices, which means we do not participate in any form of animal testing.

Do You Use Essential Oils?

I prefer to work with fragrance oils that are infused with 60-80% essential oil components, rather than using pure essential oils. Although I have a great appreciation for essential oils, I find that fragrance oils are more effective for candle making due to their superior scent throw. One of the challenges with essential oils is that they often evaporate quickly when heated, primarily because they have a low flash point, which can diminish their fragrance when burned.

What About Dyes or Other Additions?

Absolutely not! My candles are crafted solely from natural wax and fragrance oils, ensuring a clean and eco-friendly burn. Additionally, we use wooden wicks that are completely non-toxic, providing a safe and pleasant experience for everyone.

How Fragrant Are MiCasa Candles?

I’ve noticed that my candles do a wonderful job of scenting a medium-sized room just right. Since I use natural soy wax, the fragrance isn’t as strong as that of paraffin candles, which I actually appreciate. I prefer that my candles provide a subtle aroma, making them perfect for daily use without being too intense. For those who are sensitive to strong scents or have allergies, I recommend trying my Pure Soy (Unscented) Candle as a great alternative..

How Long Do MiCasa Candles Burn For?

My candles typically have a burn time of 30 to 40 hours, but I suggest lighting them for about 3 to 4 hours at a time for the best experience. It's important to trim the wick to a quarter of an inch before each use to ensure a clean burn. Additionally, make sure to let the melt pool extend all the way to the edges of the jar before you put it out. This practice helps the candle burn evenly and avoids the issue of "tunneling," which can affect the overall performance of the candle
